Liz Trass Announces UK Conference Modeled on 'MAGA' Movement

Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss has announced that the largest conference supporting conservative policies will be held in the United Kingdom. Trass, who served as the UK's shortest-serving prime minister, attended the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Texas last week, where she told attendees she wants to launch a version of the 'MAGA' (Make America Great Again) movement in the UK. Jokingly, she said it might be called 'MEGA' (Make Britain Great Again). From the stage, Trass announced that the event will take place from July 16-18 in London, with tickets going on sale this week. The former prime minister criticized the 'political elite,' including former Prime Minister Tony Blair and her former colleagues in the Conservative Party, saying the party she led 'had lost its way.' She added: 'What I've learned in the 10 years I've served as a minister in government is that I was trying to get things done, but all the power was handed over to unelected agencies.' Trass continued: 'We, as conservatives, did not have the movement, the infrastructure, the media, the independent media to counter that. What I'm working on now is how do we build the infrastructure, how do we build the equivalent of a MAGA movement, and we create a MEGA movement.' Trass questioned: 'How do we build independent media to take on the massive media outlets like the BBC? Because I know we are not going to change our country just by changing who is in No. 10.' While announcing the launch of the first Conservative Political Action Conference in the UK, she said she wants to leverage 'the international energy of the conservative movement.' She added: 'Most people in this country want a good job, they are proud of their country, they want it to be a country that is Christian, they don't want all this woke nonsense. What we need to do is bring all these people together.' During another appearance at the Texas conference, Trass called for a 'revolution like the one President Donald Trump did,' in a speech filled with incoherent conspiracy theories. In a speech during a panel discussion titled 'Euroland: Can Europe Survive?', Trass claimed the 'elite' in the UK 'hate Western civilization fundamentally and want to destroy it.' She referenced far-right conspiracy theories, claiming that the 'globalist movement' has 'infiltrated the institutions and the universities and the mainstream media and the corporate sector and the bureaucracy.' She said: 'They believe in open borders, they believe in human rights, I mean by that the rights of illegal immigrants. They believe in unnatural things like gender ideology, they don't believe in family.'
